What is a
CYBUG?
The CYBUG SERIES is a new, exciting type of
educational kit. It combined elements of electronics, robotics, mechanics, and biology
in a unique and lovable form. It's instructional, very easy to build, and fun to
customize. The
instruction manual is
easy to read, and describes how to solder, the function of each component, and the
components function in the actual robot. These kits are intended for novice
robotisists.
The operating CYBUG acts as a living organism,
with behavior and instinct designed in it's circuitry. One of the most interesting
characteristics of the CYBUG is it's ability to seek out it's own food source and energize
itself. Just as a honeybee is attracted to a flower for it's nectar, the CYBUG is drawn to
the light , where it is provided with a meal of raw energy
where the feeding station exists( which it
charges it's batteries with! )
The CYBUG is just one member of a new robotic
eco-system which parallels nature in a unique and fascinating manner
while educating it's owners in fundamentals of electronics, robotics, biology, and control
systems. It is available either in kit form or with circuit board completed.

Solarfly, this greatly improved kit is an easier to build, more sensitive, more

These powerful, rugged amorphous silicon solar cells are
rated at 3.7V ( and actually measure 4.6V noon Sun) and 4.2V ( but
measure 5.8V noon Sun ). Both are great enhancements for the SolarFly,
SunFlower or QueenAnt
They come rectangular (as shown ) but can be cut to
wing-shapes without the loss of too much current capacity!

CYBUG SCARAB 2 : Robotic Artificial Lifeform
(Intermediate Kit ) |
| The CYBUG KIT is designed to behave and appear
insect-like, and has full obstacle avoidance and reversing motors. The robo-organism is nocturnal (
most active at night ) and can be configured to be photo-tropic ( light seeking
) or photo-phobic ( light avoiding ). A quick adjustment of the potentiometer
causes the CYBUG to behave aggressively as a predator, or timid and slow moving
like a herbivore. No two CYBUG are exactly the same and you will come to
recognize the unique characteristics of each!
The CYBUG's behavior can be
enhances by adding on the Higher Brain Function daughter-boards: The
HUNGER ( HBF-1 ) and PREDATOR (HBF-2).
Instruction manual discusses
operation of CYBUG and all components used at a novice level.

The HBF-1 HUNGER instinct gives your CYBUG
herbivore behavior! It continually monitors the energy level of it's
battery/energy source and causes the robot to be attracted to light when hungry
( where a feeding station may be found ) or attracted to the safety of the dark
when it needs no recharging.
Requires an old version CYBUG SCARAB1, basic hand tools,
soldering iron, and 1 hour to complete.

CYBUG SCARAB PREDATOR MODULE KIT: HBF-2

| The CYBUG SCARAB Predator Module ( HBF-2) contains
a sensitive Infra-red receiver board for the "attacking" CYBUG and a 40 kHz IR
emitter"scent" board for the prey CYBUG. Once installed, the predator will lay in wait until
an unsuspecting PREY CYBUG wanders within a few meters. If the opportunity
is right, the PREDATOR will than race after and contact the PREY CYBUG.
Requires a old version CYBUG SCARAB1, basic hand tools,
soldering iron, and 1 hour to complete.

Motor Controller |
| Control two motors up to 48V and 4 Amps! This little circuit board packs
a lot of punch! It enables a small digital circuit or computer output to
control a pair of powerful motors, each bi-directionally. From a set of TTL
inputs, you may drive inductive loads ( including relays, solenoids,
stepping and DC motors) from 3 to 46 V with currents up to 4 amps!
